A British gentleman and the all American girl. This love story spans the Atlantic.
While attending a dance convention with her younger sister Jenny, Emily was interested in taking a tap class. Emily wanted to say hi to Joe Dodd the amazing teacher. Yes you heard me right, Joe was the teacher! Nonchalantly Joe asked Jenny and Emily what their names were (really wanting to know more about Emily). Shyly, Emily only responds with her name. Thank goodness for Facebook. After a Facebook friend request and a couple Facebook messages back and forth, Joe and Emily didn’t talk for 2 years. Fortunately Joe was offered the chance to teach full time in the states; and after much paperwork and planning, Joe moved to Maryland in August 2012. At this point Emily was starting her junior year in college and Joe was Jenny’s tap teacher at the dance studio.Over Thanksgiving break, Emily decided to go to the studio with Jenny to take Joe’s tap class. After the class Joe invited Emily to go to see Tap Dogs perform in Hershey, PA. Since Emily’s dad and sister were already planning on going she said sure! At Tap Dogs Joe was clever and handed out the tickets so that Emily would be sitting next to him (good move on Joe’s part). After going back to school and finishing with finals, Emily and Joe had their first date in downtown Frederick at Pretzel and Pizza Creations (still their favorite place for lunch in Frederick). Their second date was in D.C., which turned into a 12 hour day in the city together…and the rest is history. After almost 4 years of dating and moving across the United States, Joe proposed on December 4, 2016 at the Griffith Observatory overlooking the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles.
